Review: L'oreal White Perfect Laser and Youth Code Boosting Essence

It has been a month since i've been using the L'oreal White Perfect and Youth Code Boosting Essence.

And, here is the promised review.

Let's start with the White Perfect Laser.

As mention in my previous post, the White Perfect Laser prides itself with results after 8 weeks of use comparable with one session of IPL. 

Consisting of 2 steps, the White Perfect Laser  products are said to work best together.

First, the White Perfect Laser Anti Spot Brightening Essence helps with correcting existing dark spots. With its breakthrough active ingredient, Ellagic Acid. It has been tested to be up to 14 times more effective then existing whitening ingredients commonly found in other brands.

 

Second, the White Perfect Laser All Round Protection Whitening Cream interrupts melanin production and blocks harmful UV rays with Loreal's patented UV filtration system.

As i have mentioned in most of my whitening product review, whitening is not about bleaching ones skin tone. Also as mentioned i'm of a darker skin tone as compared to most asian. And for people with darker complexion, dull and uneven skin tone seem to be a plague that can only be cured by make up. So for me, a whitening product speaks loudest when it speaks radiance.

When i first tried the Loreal Perfect Laser series, the Anti Spot Brightening Essence caught my attention as its texture was really light and not sticky. The All Round Protection Whitening Cream was in the other hand, not as favored by me or the other gals at the table as it was thicker and it seems alittle too "heavy" for a day cream.

It has been a little more than a month since i've been using the White Perfect Laser series and like my first impression of the products, The White Perfect Laser Anti Spot Brightening Essence is light and really easy to apply on my face. It also leave my skin feeling very fresh.

The White Perfect Laser All Round Protection Whitening Cream is however not as "heavy" as i though it would be. And as instructed by the people from loreal, i paired both the White Perfect Laser product together for the best results. True enough, I've got people commenting that i look more radiant even without makeup. i have also personally noticed that my pore are visibly smaller.

So, Yes! the White Perfect Laser series did worked it's magic on me!

But, two things to mention about both the White Perfect Laser products:-
1st: I noted that the All Round Protection Whitening Cream  actually leaves a white cast on the face
2nd: My sister was complaining that she suffered minor breakouts due to the products
And my recommendation to reduce the above mention problems? A little goes a long way. You dun have spam your White Perfect Laser products to get results.

Next, the Youth Code Boosting Essence.

For the longest time, i've been wanting to try the Youth Code Boosting Essence as i've knew of people that has tried and fall deeply in love with this product.

 As mention in my previous product on the Youth Code Product launch, L'Oreal Paris has invested alot of hard work to decoding the mystery in The Gene Science of Skin. And the company has came up with the Pro- Gen Technology that helps in speeding up the action of the repair genes in aging skin, making skincare twice as effective.

The Youth Code Boosting Essence is the new addition to the youth code range. It is said to be able to soften and smoothen skin with just 1 drop, improve skin texture in 1 week and restore youthfulness and radiance after 1 month.

Using it as the 2nd step of my daily skincare routine, it helps with "waking" my skin and preparing it for the other skincare products.What i love most about the youth code boosting essence is its "lightness" that allows almost immediate absorption and it leave my skin with a velvety feel.

Another thing that i love about this product is its packaging.

This is what i call the grand mum's perfume pump. It's more hygienic and it gives me just the amount i need to cover my face, 2 drops nothing more so no waste.

But i think that is disturbing me is the scent of alcohol. Not very prominent and the scent doesn't bother my nose or skin but i though it maybe good for me to mention just incase someone blames me for any kind of skin reaction. So, of course if you are someone with sensative skin, do the patch test before purchasing.

Show & Tell Monday: Childhood Memories part 1

Last monday of the month, oh did i missed the last 2 months?? How time can fly so fast when you are all buzy and stressed up.

But, i'm sure this show and tell is going to bring some of you back to when everything was simple and innocent.

Your Childhood!!

Yes! Everyone has got a memory or two from the past. Whether if it's good memories or bad ones, we keep them safe deep down in our hearts. However, living in this small island, some of us are able to share memories! We may not directly participate in each others memory but the objects that we share may be common.

And in this 2 part childhood memory post, i'll first bring you back to the days of ceramic and mosaic tiles playground.

Today's playground as compared to the ones the children of late 70s and 80s remembered, are much safer, more hygienic and i suppose less expensive.

In my memories, i remembered, The Dragon playground, the Pelican playground, Long wooden see saws and Large squeaking metal merry go rounds.

I've did some reading online and found out that there are still a few old playgrounds standing. So i took the time to visit this old memory and even brought along my daughter.

Made with ceramic, mosaic and steel, this whole series of old playground is built in late 1970s by the housing and development board and designed by Mr Khor Ean Ghee 

1st, the Dragon playground.

Sand box playgrounds are no longer a norm in singapore due to hygiene i believe. But i remember bringing my "equipments" for digging and building sand castles.

Andrea was with me during the search of old skool playgrounds and i say she enjoyed herself alot!

 

Walking through, the colorful, steel ribs of the old majestic dragon. 

 

Super scary steps!! After spending some time at the dragon playground, i seem to understand why the older playgrounds are phasing out. It's really due to safety and hygiene issues. I was playing around with my daughter and i realized that safety is a really big problem. 

1st, the steel ribs, imaging tripping and falling in your face on the steel ribs. goodness! i can feel the pain just be imagining. Also, it's dangerous for older and taller kids to be on the ribs considering the height of the dragon, one wrong landing and it maybe one or two broken bones. 

2nd, Stairs and Slides are seriously too scary to look down too, let alone climbing and sitting on them. 

3rd, Sand box. infected with insects and polluted with urine and maybe broken glass. how scary can that be.

Next, the Lonely Pelican, rabbit and tortoise playground.

The reason i call this the lonely pelican, rabbit and tortoise is because obviously they are the animals featured. Lonely because it is located in a vacated neighborhood. All the flats are still and waiting for demolish. And, the smell for ammonia, HORRIBLE!

It's a big pity that this beautifully mosaic-ed creature is now standing alone when it once had many companions. 

The empty space in the large triangle use to hold 2 metal swings. They have been removed, maybe due to rust. Of course, Andrea didn't had the chance to play as i seriously thought it's too yikey!

Last, but not least! Merry go round!

I believe anyone older or my age should remember the large steel merry go round that is crowded with loads of kids in the evening with grandparents or maids seating around or pushing the merry go round to make it move faster!

This merry go round is definitely the newer version of the old merry go round i remembered.

I remembered a bigger merry go round with leaf like patterns embossed on the base of the merry go round and a less steady base.

My visit to the playground did brought back alot of childhood memories. My childhood was an especially happy one minus the caning and homework because i was lucky enough to have my grandparents living directly opposite my home, door facing door. How come i nv felt this way at all in the past?

Introducing, Loreal White Perfect Laser

It has been a while since i've last wrote in here.... in fact i think i have been missing out on alot of stuff happening around me but i guess there are more important issues for me to handle in reality.

But since i'm back, of course there is something worth sharing.

Just last week i was invited to a heart felt event by L'Oreal Paris Dermo-Expertise showcasing their new baby,  White Perfect Laser.

 I will not be reviewing this product in this post but read on cause at the end of this post you would be able to find a little surprise.

Let's start with one scary truth, everyone of us will face, the word AGING soon or later. And the fact that beauty and youth has its expiry is undeniable. And all we can do is to take good care of our skin to prolong youth's stay.

Many may not know one if youth's greatest enemy is the sun. The UV rays of the sun cause pre mature aging as signs such as wrinkles and spots starts to form.

Therefore, it is very important for us to protect our skin against the sun by using sunblock. However, (here comes the confusing part) unknown to many the usual high SPF is no good for anti aging protection. SPF only helps with blocking out UVB rays that causes sun burns and redness. UVA rays are the ones that are mostly neglected and highly accountable for premature aging.

And how do we protect ourselves against UVA rays? Look for products that are broad spectrum coverage meaning not only SPF but also PA +++.

Anyways back to the product, White Perfect Laser is formulated to challenge the limits of skincare against the peak of Whitening - IPL.

For those who are not familiar with IPL, it's actually called Intense Pulsed Light. IPL is commonly known for hair removal but it is also used for skin treatment in the form of Photorejuvenation.

Photorejuvenation helps with sun damage ( Dyspigmentation ), age spots, lightening and reduction of redness.

I have personally always believed that IPL is the only effective way to removing spots of any kind and trust me you wouldn't want your pockets/wallets to have anything to do with IPL cause it's not only burns your face (after effect of treatment). it also burns those notes.

But with just 2 steps, Loreal's White perfect laser has proven comparable results after 8 weeks of use to 1 session of IPL. 

But thanks to you know who, dark spots has yet to surface on my skin and that means prevent is always better than cure for me. However, i got a look of how i would look like maybe 10 yrs down the road??

Show and Tell Monday: It's the boyfriend tag!!

It's the last monday of the month again! and it's February!! the month where people gather to celebrate the season of love.

Fo this month's Show and Tell, i wanted to do something personal. So i thought it would be fun to do a tag video with my partner.

I intended to do the my boyfriend does my make up tag but he was afraid that i might kill him for turning me into a clown so we did a simpler tag. My boyfriend tag!

Neogence Ace Revitalizing and Brightening Series

We all know that dry skin is one the many factors that can cause premature aging and oily skin. And I've always believe that hydrating skin and revitalizing skin works hand in hand to help prevent or delay aging.

Well, believe it or not i use to have a ridiculous night skincare ritual that consist of products that helps with anti aging, hydrating and repairing of the skin. But i wasn't disciple enough to continue that routine when work started to get really buzy. So i turned to only applying a hydrating serum every night before i hit the sack and the hydrating serum is the only "comfort" my skin could get at night as during the day, as my new work station is right under a strong air conditioner that is causing me dry skin.

You may think that my skin is peeling and flaking as i've said that i have dry skin but that was not the case. The dryness actually caused my skin to produce more oil causing my skin to look really oily. And the only thing i could though of is to hydrate my skin at night and apply products helps with shine control in the day as  some hydrating products can be seriously sticky and i do not like that "i have too much product on my face" feeling during the day.

But that did not stop the problem, at the end of the day, my skin feels irritated due to the tightness and itchness, and my face looked really dull and oily. However my skin condition started to change after using the Neogance Ace Revitalizing and Brightening series.

 So, let's start.

For me, The Bubble Mask is indeed any interesting, innovative and effectless product to use.

By interesting, innovative and effectless, i mean:
1. How many products can you find in the market that changes from gel to bubble
2. The Bubbly sensation i get when the product disappear.
3. The product do not drip all over when applied

Here's how it work:

With clean hands and dry face (no cleansing of face is needed before appling mask), Spread gel all over face.



Bubble Mask before turning in to foam



Then, wait and be amuzed.

Notice that the Gel will within seconds turn in to a thick foam before it transform into bubbles and disappear.

To finish, wash with water.

What i like about the product:

As mention, i'm pretty amazed by the foaming and bubbling. As the mask has a gel consistency before i spread it on my face, it allows an easy/ hassle free application and use, therefore i'm able to move around and get things done while having the mask on. Also, unlike most cleansing mask, long waiting and painless peeling is not required. The bubble mask, turns from gel to foam with in seconds and from foam to bubbles within 5 mins. But leave it on for another 5 mins or till the bubbles start to disappear before washing the mask off.

I'm not sure about the slimming effect cause i'm only using it once a week when the recommended no. of use is 2 to 3 times a week. But it does help with cleansing one whole day of oil and a little bit of my white heads problem as it is said to be. Also, it leaves the skin super smooth, not smile and crack face after the mask.

What i dislike about product:

This will sound rather ridiculous but i seriously cannot stand bubbles in my nose!! ok, to be exact, around my nostrils area. It cause me to have problem with my breathing cause i do not want bubbles in my nose!

Anyway, that just me, so small issue.

Next, the reason i only use the bubble mask once a week is because the deep cleansing is too hash for my skin. I use to have combination skin but thanks to the super sonic air condition at my office my skin has became very dry. The dry ness of my skin then caused my face to be very oily after mid day. So, the bubble mask is good to help deep cleanse my face but if it is used for more than twice a week, after washing the mask off my skin will feel smooth, soft AND ITCHY! After a few tries, i found that once a week is the best. So, once a week it is!

How do i clean my Make up brushes?

Beauty brushes or many call them make up brushes are the tool for beautification. Some have many, some have less and some even have none. For some, beauty brushes are in dispensable but for some their fingers are the ones that does the magic. I begin my make up journey with nothing more than my mum's make up, sponge applicator and blush brush *to be exact, travel size make up and blush brush*.

I got my brush set only after i started professional make up and my instructor expects everyone in class to have clean brushes every time she sees us.

So how do i clean my brushes?

I was asked many many times by friends, colleagues and clients, where do i get my brushes, what are they made of and why are they so soft. This question may not seem relevant to how i clean my brushes. However, the secret hide nice soft brushes is not solely on the brand and material. It's also the way we treat the brushes.

A little about my brushes, i would say that my brush collection is a decent one, no fancy brushes just enough for me to work with. Most of them are from Makeup Forever's S line and the bristles of the brushes are made of goat's or sable's hair. 2 of them from Make up forever's N line and they are with nylon bristles. A few other brushes from Sigma makeup which have synthetic bristles.

Many maybe wondering, where are the MACs!! but sorry i'm not really a MAC person, although i do go crazy at their sales but IMO they are alittle to over priced and even worse they "kinda" make you "addicted" to a super pretty shade of watever and then they discontinues it *irritated*.

Anyway, as many review goes, MUFE's brushes isn't the softest brushes around. So how comes soft brushes? Simple, care of your brushes like you care for your hair minus the chemical treatments, dye and wat not.

There is seriously no secret formula used in the cleansing of my brushes. In fact no special solution for brush cleansing is used,  all i have is cheap shampoo and conditioner.

Natural bristles are animal hair and like the human hair, animal hair can become very dry then split ends happens and your brush becomes very prickly.

And if you are going to use that prickly brush on your face, beautifying yourself will be a real pain.

So, Let's start.

Just like how we wash our hair, i:

Step 1: Wet bristles under running water, making sure that all the bristles are wet.

Step 2: pour a little amount of shampoo on my palm and whirl the bristles on the shampoo till the shampoo turns foamy. By now i'll be able to see the left over make up on my brushes come off turning the foamy colorful. i usually "shampoo" my blush and powder brushes individually as they are bigger and i dun wan they to get the colors from my eye brushes. Smaller eye brushes are held together while whirling them through my shampoo.

Step 3: wash out the shampoo on all brushes and lay all nylon/ synthetic brushes to dry on a piece of cloth as conditioning maybe not be of any good use.

Step 4: Apply conditioner on the bristles but try to avoid the silvery metal that hold them together. i'm not sure if the conditioner will loosen the grip or even stain the metal as till date none of these has happened but prevent is better than cure.  leave the conditioner on for 15 mins.

Step 5: wash conditioner off and lay them flat on a piece of cloth to dry.

Step 6 *opinion: once in awhile, i treat my natural hair brushes to a hair mask.

Now we are done with the brushes, what about our beauty puffs and sponge???

How do i clean them without having to to purchase a sponge cleanse?

Simple, the secret to clean and brand new looking sponge and puff, BAR SOAP!! yes, no need to spend on expensive sponge cleanses. Just bar soap, the cheaper the better!

Simply, wet the sponge or powder puff and rub the soap against them.

 Next, gentle rub them with your hands till you no longer see any make up on the puff and sponge.

Then, leave to dry. And, you can now re use your beauty puff and sponge.

Cleansing of make up tools frequently is as important as having to wash your face as dirt and reminding makeup may irritate your face causing acnes, redness and other skin problems. Plus there is no necessary to purchase expensive cleansing solutions so why not save that money for something else better.
